While America's National Parks are welcoming record numbers of visitors year over year, aging infrastructure and decades of underfunding have resulted in a backlog of maintenance repairs that is estimated at $11.6 billion. Providing consistent, reliable funding to address overdue maintenance would help ensure that local communities continue to benefit from park visitor spending. America’s National Park System spans more than 400 sites and received more than 330 million visits in 2017. Visitor spending at these parks and in local gateway regions supported a total of 306,000 jobs, $11.9 billion in labor income, $20.3 billion in value added and $35.8 billion in economic output in the national economy. These expenditures generate and support economic activity within local economies nationwide.
