U.S. Travel Statement on U.S.-Canada Border Closure
PRESS RELEASE March 19, 2020
Washington -
U.S. Travel President and CEO Roger Dow issued the following statement on the U.S.-Canadian border closing to “non-essential traffic” due to the coronavirus pandemic:
“Canada is the largest international inbound market to the U.S., with nearly 21 million visitors spending $20.8 billion in 2019. Border cities and states rely on robust Canadian visitation, as do many states across the Sun Belt. As temporary actions to halt the spread of coronavirus are put into place, we look forward to the moment when travel and tourism between the two countries is able to resume.”
