WASHINGTON -

U.S. Travel Executive Vice President of Public Affairs and Policy Tori Barnes issued a statement ahead of today’s meeting between Democratic leadership and President Trump to discuss America’s infrastructure needs.

“America’s infrastructure needs should not be a partisan issue. Without necessary investments and upgrades to modernize and improve our country’s infrastructure, travel will simply be unable to grow, threatening millions of jobs and trillions in economic output.

“When it comes to infrastructure, there are ample opportunities for agreement, including several policies championed by our industry that will increase federal investment and enhance travel mobility throughout the United States.

“President Trump campaigned on fixing America’s airports. Recently elected members of Congress campaigned on a promise to work across the aisle and get things done on the most important issues, like revitalizing our nation’s highways and transit systems. The U.S. travel industry hopes today’s meeting yields a bipartisan commitment to pass a major infrastructure package this year.
