U.S. Travel Comments on Partial Federal Government Shutdown's Effect on Air Travel
PRESS RELEASE January 16, 2019
WASHINGTON -
U.S. Travel Association Executive Vice President Jonathan Grella:
"It is now plainly evident that the shutdown is affecting air travel, and when that happens, damage to the overall U.S. economy will shortly follow. Travel supports $2.4 trillion in economic activity and one in nine American jobs, and is a top-10 employer in 49 states, so any slowdown in that sector risks an economic cost that could be felt in every corner of the country.”
U.S. Travel Association is the national, non-profit organization representing the $1.3 trillion travel industry, an essential contributor to our nation's economy and success. U.S. Travel produces programs and insights and advocates for policies to increase travel to and within the United States. Visit ustravel.org for more information.
