Michelle Murray Tuffin has served as the General Counsel of U.S. Travel Association since August 2011.
Michelle Murray Tuffin is a seasoned Washington, D.C. attorney and Capitol Hill veteran with nearly two decades of experience providing thoughtful and effective legal counsel to nonprofit, corporate and political clients. Tuffin concentrates her current practice exclusively on trade associations, having extensive experience with all aspects of association legal needs, including: corporate governance, political law compliance, executive transition, employment law, tax-exemption, member activity and transactions, antitrust, intellectual property, reputational risk, and management of outside counsel. Tuffin serves independently as outside general counsel and special counsel to leading Washington, D.C. trade associations.
Tuffin is a former associate of Nixon Peabody LLP, a Global 100 Law Firm. She also served on the legislative staff of Congressman Bob Inglis (SC-4) during the 103rd though 105th Congresses.
Tuffin received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Russian language and political science from Duke University, where she was a Benjamin N. Duke Leadership Scholar. She received her Juris Doctor degree from Northeastern University School of Law. Tuffin is licensed to practice law in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and the District of Columbia.
