Last month, U.S. Travel launched its Travel Works Power Hour series which brings together our member organizations for in-person, in-district roundtables with their representatives in Congress to discuss travel’s role in powering our economies, supporting our communities and building a strong workforce.

During these one-hour meetings, member organizations are uniquely positioned to share their own stories to highlight how pro-travel policies will create jobs, strengthen our industry and grow travel to and within the U.S.

For our first Power Hour in August, Visit Buffalo Niagara and Niagara Falls USA met with Congressman Brian Higgins (D-NY) to highlight travel’s significant impact in Western New York. Last year, visitors spent $2.8 billion in Greater Niagara which directly supported nearly 10,000 jobs in the region.

These roundtables also provide our members across the country with an opportunity to help grow bipartisan support for our industry’s legislative agenda and strengthen travel champions in Congress by showcasing the essential role travel plays in strengthening the communities they serve.

As we continue to rebuild our industry from the devastating impacts of the pandemic, it’s essential that we work closely with members of Congress to develop and move forward policies and initiatives that accelerate travel’s recovery and forge a stronger industry for the future.

For member organizations interested in hosting a Power Hour program, please email me at [email protected] and be sure to follow our Travel Action Network on X (Twitter) for the latest policy news and legislative updates impacting the travel industry.
